In case you have an i Pad, i Pod Touch, or i Phone that is jailbroken, you may have a tough time updating to i OS 9 via the OTA update.
Chances are that when you try to get the OTA update, the screen will just be stuck at the Checking for Update section.
Please note i OS 9 is available as a free upgrade for the following i OS devices: It is always a good idea to take a backup of your i Phone, i Pad and i Pod Touch before updating it with the latest i OS software update.
(Note that if you choose to encrypt your backup using i Tunes, along with normal data, secure information like passwords etc.
Wait for i Tunes to open and connect to your device.
Image : Install i OS 9 on Jailbroken i Phone Well this is not surprising and is expected in case of jailbroken devices, as most of the modern jailbreaks like Tai G do not work well with OTA updates.
Also, these jailbreaks actually disable OTA updates so that the device does not accidentally update itself to the next i OS firmware, thus saving the jailbreak.
If you have got a jailbroken i Phone, i Pad or i Pod touch, and try to update to i OS 9 using OTA update when it is released, then you will be stuck at the “Checking for Update” screen as you can see above.
That is expected behavior with jailbroken devices, as most modern jailbreaks like Tai G jailbreak, disable OTA updates to ensure jailbreakers don’t accidentally install the update and end up losing the jailbreak.
